COVID19 Child Welfare Leader Forum: Ad Hoc Support & Strategy Session on Staff Turnover
In collaboration with the Annie E. Casey Foundation (AECF) and the National Child Welfare Workforce Institute (NCWWI), this ad hoc session will offer peer-to-peer exchange on staffing challenges both prior to and amidst the pandemic, and the ways in which jurisdictions are working to address them. Following brief polling and sharing to better understand workforce trends across the country, leaders and workforce experts from AECF, NCWWI, Jefferson County CO and Connecticut will engage in a panel conversation/Q&A highlighting effective recruitment and retention strategies. Their discussion will focus on both short- and longer-term approaches, including efforts that have been implemented through AECF’s On the Frontline Initiative, including the 5 Steps to a Stronger Child Welfare Workforce; NCWWI’s Workforce Development Framework, Workforce Excellence sites, and other tools; and workforce plans and strategies advanced in Connecticut, Jefferson County CO, and other jurisdictions. The session will conclude with small group breakout rooms for additional peer support and collaborative brainstorming. Key resources and contacts will also be provided to support jurisdictional action steps for addressing staff turnover going forward.
